A high-strength piston seal helps maintain consistent damping, while the carbon-steel construction provides stable support for repeated tailgate use.
Installs at the original Maverick tailgate mounting locations using the supplied brackets and hardware without drilling into the tailgate or truck bed.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about fitment, installation, protection, and care.
No. The damper controls the tailgate while it is lowering. It does not raise, close, or latch the tailgate automatically. The tailgate must still be lifted and closed by hand.
Yes. Installation requires removal of the driver-side factory tailgate tie-down/bottle opener because it occupies the same space as the damper. The passenger-side factory tie-down remains in place. A compatible low-profile replacement tie-down may be installed separately if additional clearance is confirmed.
The factory support cable remains part of the tailgate system, so the supported tailgate positions can still be used when the cable and mounting hardware are installed correctly. After installation, test each intended position slowly and make sure the cable remains outside the damper path without catching or binding.
Check that both mounting brackets are fully tightened, the damper is locked onto both ball studs, and the factory support cable is not caught behind or around the strut. Stop using the damper if it leaks, bends, binds, or allows an uncontrolled drop, and contact Mabett support with photos of the installation.
