Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about fitment, installation, protection, and care.
The cover closes the exposed opening between the Maverick cargo bed and tailgate, helping reduce rocks, mulch, leaves, sand, dust, and rain from entering the tailgate cavity or contacting the internal wiring area. It also creates a more finished appearance around the tailgate seam.
No. The cover helps reduce direct water and debris entry, but it does not create a watertight or pressure-wash-rated seal. Water may still enter through surrounding seams, wiring clearances, drainage paths, or other tailgate openings. Avoid directing a high-pressure hose into the tailgate gap.
The cover is positioned inside the folding area and is designed to allow the tailgate to open and close normally. After installation, operate the tailgate slowly and confirm that the cover does not contact the wiring, hinges, support cables, tailgate damper, or nearby accessories.
Stop and confirm the cover orientation, retaining-tab alignment, and condition of the factory opening. Check for spray-in bed-liner material, dirt, bent edges, or other obstructions. Do not hammer the cover, bend the tabs repeatedly, or trim the part. Contact Mabett support with clear photos if it still does not fit.
